Transformation Under Way at Ford Plant in Dagenham

The year was 1931. Ford Motor Company was looking to be among the first innovators in the British car industry, opening a state-of-the-art factory in Dagenham. The factory produced tens of thousands of cars, without interruption, until a strike by female workers in 1968 brought the plant to a near standstill. The strike was so powerful that it led to the implementation of the Equal Pay Act of 1970.
