Ford Officially Gets into the Driverless Car Game

Just weeks after the Government announced approval to begin testing driverless cars in the UK, Ford has announced it will be contributing to the tests by way of two new vehicles outfitted with prototype equipment that will enable them to communicate with one another, and other testing vehicles, in real-world situations. The vehicles will be used to help test the concepts of both driverless cars and automated public transport.

Transformation Under Way at Ford Plant in Dagenham

The year was 1931. Ford Motor Company was looking to be among the first innovators in the British car industry, opening a state-of-the-art factory in Dagenham. The factory produced tens of thousands of cars, without interruption, until a strike by female workers in 1968 brought the plant to a near standstill. The strike was so powerful that it led to the implementation of the Equal Pay Act of 1970.

Sales numbers from November show the company expanded its market share lead over its closest rival by some 40%, thanks to an exceptionally strong performance by its commercial vehicle (CV) line.
