Ford UK Continues to Shine
Ford UK

In the Western European markets Ford had an impressive 8.3 per cent of sales which made them the second highest brand.    They have been in this position for the past four years.  An even higher position was achieved by Ford UK which claimed the top spot for vehicles sales during 2011.

In the United States…

The all-electric Ford Focus is anticipated to launch in the spring with a range of 70 to 100 miles.  Ford is planning to assist their customers to gauge whether they will reach the next charging station by providing a smartphone app.  The information provided will tell the customers how many more miles they will be able to drive before the distance to empty (DTE) and is based on their current way of driving.
Ford has made arrangements with companies to build charging stations for their electric vehicles and Ford will be to tell drivers where their nearest station is situated.  There has also been a separate arrangement with Microsoft so that drivers will know the electricity prices and details of when the cheapest tariffs are available.
The electric Focus is due for release in the UK during 2013.

…and The Detroit Motor Show

Of course we shouldn’t forget the huge spectacle that was the first major motor show of 2012.  Ford showcased the 2013 Fusion, known in the UK as the Mondeo.  Ford is planning to standardise their range throughout the world.  The Ford Fusion/Mondeo will be completely updated and revitalised so that the North American and European models will be the same.  Many of the engine details aren’t currently available at this time.
Whilst at the show Ford also gave visitors a glimpse of what is planned for the future regarding in-car entertainment.

Back in the UK

Ford UK has started 2012 in really good form as at the What Car 2012 awards the Ford Mondeo, in different guises, won two accolades – the first for best Family car and the second is for best Estate car.  This is the second year that Ford has achieved these results.

And Finally

It was an extremely important year in 2011 for Ford in the UK with their centenary celebrations which covered a substantial portion of the year.  There was good news for Ford nearly every week regarding levels of sales or awards for the popularity of their vehicles.   Who can forget the success of their centenary tour around the country and the high regard in which Ford is held throughout the industry?
During 2011 Ford cornered fifteen per cent of the UK car sales market, with the highest number of sales being reserved for the Fiesta, with the Focus taking the second spot.  There were also increased Transit sales which also helped to cement their position.
Trying to sustain such a high profile position was never going to be easy, which is why it is so encouraging that Ford UK has started the New Year of 2012 so optimistically.  It is only very early in the year but let’s hope that it continues throughout the whole of 2012.
