Expecting to demand grow in China to 6 million vehicles a year by 2025, around 66% of those sales are predicted to be fully electric. With air quality a major issue in Chinese cities, the success of electric vehicles will be vital in reducing pollution levels.
Speaking about the introduction of the partnership Peter Fleet, Ford Asia Pacific manager, commented “The potential to launch a new line of all-electric vehicles in the world’s largest auto market is an exciting next step for Ford,” he added “Electric vehicles will be a big part of the future in China and Ford wants to lead in delivering great solutions.”
As the leader in the Chinese electric vehicle market, Zotye has sold 16,000 vehicles to the end of July this year, seeing an impressive 56% increase on year on year. Looking to again a large foothold in the growing sector, Ford sees the partnership as the ideal entry point.
