A survey has been commissioned to find the most dangerous roads in the UK. With 30,248 serious and fatal crashes on major roads and an average of 73 casualties per day last year, over half occurred on just 10% of the road network.

Of the top ten that made the list, roads in the south east feature a total of four times. Additionally, the road that tops the list, the A254 is also in that area. No roads in the north east have made the list. Speaking about the findings Andy Watson, CEO at Ageas Insurance, described the £35bn cost as “shocking” and added, “that’s nearly two per cent of GDP and more than we spend on primary education and GP services combined.”
